Harris started his career as a lawyer
She became San Francisco’s top prosecutor in 2003. In 2010, she became the first woman and first black person to become a California attorney. In 2017, Harris was elected junior US senator from California. When Kamala married her fellow lawyer Douglas Emhoff in 2014, she joined Indian, African and American traditions as well as Jewish traditions. She began her law career at the Alameda County District Attorney (DA) office and joined the San Francisco DA office. She became the city attorney of San Francisco in 2003.
Kamala Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and was the first woman and the first black person to hold this position. She was again elected to this post in 2014. When Kamala married her fellow lawyer Douglas Emhoff in 2014, she joined Indian, African and American traditions as well as Jewish traditions. Harris served as the junior US senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Has been a vocal critic of gun culture
