Anant Chaturdashi 2024: Meat shops will remain closed on 17 September, order of Yogi government

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has given instructions to keep slaughterhouses and meat shops closed in the state on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, a major festival of Jainism. In this matter, the concerned officials have been instructed to ensure strict compliance of this order in their respective areas. So that an atmosphere of peace and harmony is maintained in the state.

The Urban Development Department said that the supreme festival of the followers of Jainism, ‘Dasalakshan’, will begin from September 8 and conclude on September 17 on the day of ‘Anant Chaturdashi’. This day is a major religious festival of Jainism, which is celebrated with reverence and devotion by millions of Jain followers of the state.

The Jain community has requested to keep all slaughterhouses and meat shops closed in the state on the occasion of this festival. Keeping in mind the sentiments of the Jain community and respecting their request, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided that all slaughterhouses and meat shops will be kept closed in the entire state on the 17th.

Under this order, all the concerned officials have been instructed to ensure strict compliance of this order in their respective areas. So that an atmosphere of peace and harmony is maintained in the state. Also, this major festival (Daslakshan) of the Jain community can be respected. Let us tell you that this festival teaches to follow the path of Lord Mahavir Swami’s basic principle ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma, Live and Let Live’ and opens the doors to salvation.
