On the last day of the first phase of election campaigning in Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a rally in Kishtwar during which he said against terrorism, “We will bury terrorism so deep that it will never emerge.”

The Union Minister further said, “We saw the days of partition in 1990, we saw the days of terrorism. Be it Chandrika Sharma or Parihar brothers. Everyone made sacrifices. Today, I promise the people of Jammu and Kashmir, including the region, that we will bury terrorism so deep that it will never emerge. Rahul and Farooq’s government is yet to be formed. The National Congress wants Article 370. Prime Minister Modi wants to develop Jammu and Kashmir.

“Like in 1990, even today efforts are being made to strengthen terrorism here,” the Union Minister said. “The National Conference and the Congress have made some promises here that if their government comes to power, they will release the terrorists. I tell you, this is the Modi government, no one has the guts to spread terrorism on Indian soil.”

This election in Jammu and Kashmir was clearly fought between two forces. On one side was the National Conference and the Congress, and on the other was the BJP. The National Conference and the Congress said that they would restore Article 370 if our government was formed. Without Article 370, the reservation that the Paharis and the Gurjar brothers have been granted today would not have been possible.
