Amit Shah said in West Bengal, “If the BJP comes to power in 2026, we will control infiltration…”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday took a tough stand against illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and said peace was possible in West Bengal only if such infiltration was stopped. He claimed that if the BJP comes to power in 2026, illegal infiltration will be controlled.

Amit Shah arrived at the Petrapole dry port to inaugurate the new passenger terminal and cargo gate. In the programme, he made a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal and criticized corruption. Shah asked the people of the state to bring about political changes by 2026 in order to establish permanent peace in the state.

“Peace in West Bengal can be achieved only if the illegal infiltration of Bangladesh is completely stopped, and when the borders do not facilitate the legal movement of people, illegal means are resorted to and disrupt the peace of the country,” he said.

On the occasion, Shah attacked the TMC government in the state and said corruption and deteriorating law and order situation were hampering peace and development in the state. He further said, “I request the people of Bengal to bring about political change in 2026 and lay the foundation for peace and security in the state by bringing the BJP to power. The BJP government will completely stop illegal infiltration from Bangladesh.”

Highlighting the importance of land ports, the Home Minister said they not only facilitate trade relations between the two countries but also act as a strong medium for legal transit. “When land crossings ensure legal movement across borders, controlling illegal migration also becomes easier,” he said, expressing hope that the project would further strengthen trade and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh.
