Allu Arvind is one of the top producers of southern cinema. Geeta Arts, the company of Telugu star Allu Arjun’s father Arvind, has been producing Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films, as well as some Hindi films, for over 50 years.

Now, a video of Allu Arvind has gone viral on social media in which he expresses his views on the problems of the Hindi film industry aka Bollywood. Allu Arvind expressed his “controversial” views on what the South Indian film industry does well and Bollywood fails to do at the South Indian Film Festival in March this year. Allu Arvind’s OTT platform AHA has now shared this video of his.

Allu Arvind’s ‘controversial’ statement
Talking about the difference between pan-Indian cinema in the 80s and pan-Indian cinema today, he said, “Now the doors have opened (smiles). Material made in this part of India is being accepted by audiences across India. In fact, our dubbed films are being well received there (Hindi film market) as well.”

Arvind said that this shows the quality of content being produced in the South. But then an argument can be made that content is also being made there (in the Hindi film industry), so why doesn’t it work? He said: “I have a controversial answer to that. But whatever my feelings are, I express them with complete honesty.

Bollywood filmmakers are caught between Bandra and Juhu.
Allu Aravind further said, “I respect Mumbai filmmakers and their level of thinking, which is very good. But at the same time he is stuck between Bandra and Juhu! He grew up in Bandra and Juhu and his culture and vision are similar. That is why they make similar films. They must understand that there is Uttar Pradesh and Bihar too. Why do people in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar love films made in Telugu and Tamil so much? The reason is the content. We do not discriminate in love.”

Without naming names, Arvind said he had spoken to some Bollywood filmmakers who understand this and are working to make such films that can attract a large audience. “When Mumbai filmmakers start making such films, the recognition that south films get today will also go away,” he said. “I think now all industries will start making all-India films given such genres and budgets.”
