Alkasa Airlines flight makes emergency landing at Gorakhpur airport due to bomb threat

An Alkasa Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, after receiving a bomb threat. The flight was bound for Delhi from Bengaluru via Gorakhpur on Sunday. At the same time, information was received that a bomb had been planted on the plane. Thereafter, the flight was inspected at Gorakhpur airport.

Gorakhpur Airport Director RK Parashar said that after a thorough investigation at the airport, no suspicious object was found on the flight. The flight landed at Gorakhpur Airport at 1:33 pm on Sunday. After this, the door opened around 1:50. There were 174 passengers and 3 newborns on board the flight.

RK Parashar said the investigation into the flight and passengers continued till 2.42 pm and the flight left for Delhi at 3.43 pm. Tight security measures were in place at the Gorakhpur airport ahead of the arrival of the aircraft. Police, Indian Air Force, bomb disposal squad, fire brigade and medical teams reached the spot.

He said senior officials have also reached the spot to deal with the matter. Passengers were safely evacuated and the aircraft was thoroughly inspected and no suspicious items were found. After everything was cleared, the plane flew to Delhi. A similar threat was received two days ago.

According to sources, around 50 flights operated by Air India received bomb threats on Sunday. Akasa Air said 15 of its flights received security alerts. All aircraft have since been thoroughly inspected. After no suspicious objects were found, all aircraft were released for operation.
