Mumbai, Dec 14 (PTI) A section of Alkasa Air’s pilots have expressed concerns over alleged training and safety issues at the airline and have sought the intervention of the Civil Aviation Ministry, while the airline has termed the allegations as false.
Alkasa Air, which has been operating for more than two years, has also faced pilot problems earlier. This time, the pilot department also claimed that 84 pilots had given one day’s notice to resign.
“We categorically deny that these allegations are baseless and untrue. Nor do they represent the views of Alkasa pilots,” an airline spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.
Akasa Air also said that 324 pilots have joined the company since October 2023, and that the employee group has experienced an annualized attrition rate of less than 1% during this period.
In a letter written to Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on December 11, the pilot department sought an independent inquiry into the airline’s management practices, training methods and safety standards.
To refute the allegations, Alcazar Air also said in a statement that its monthly employee surveys show that pilots consistently have the highest job satisfaction of all employee groups, underscoring the effectiveness of our supportive culture.
It added: “This dedication is further demonstrated by the extremely low number of pilots seeking opportunities outside Alcazar Aviation in 2024.”
In October, aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed $Alkasa Airlines fined Rs 30 lakh for certain lapses in crew training.
Akasa Air has a fleet of 26 aircraft flying to 27 destinations, including 5 overseas cities.
