The Hindu side has asked the court to investigate and hand it over to the Hindus. Vishnu Gupta filed a petition on behalf of the Hindu Sena before the court, which has issued notices to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the Ajmer Dargah Committee and the Archaeological Survey of India.

He said the court had also made the Dargah Committee a party based on a petition from the Hindu side. The Dargah Committee rejected the Hindu side’s claims. Dargah Committee Secretary Sarwar Chishti said Ajmer Dargah has millions of followers not only in the country but also across the world. He said the country’s unity and tolerance would be at risk if the Places of Religion Act was tampered with. Diwan Syed Naseeruddin Chishti of Dargah said that some people make such claims about Dargah to gain popularity. The Dargah has been located in Ajmer for 850 years.
