Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar
During the mid-term elections, the slogan “Batenge to Katenge” created a rift in the NDA in Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis came face to face over this slogan. Recently, Fadnavis launched a scathing attack on Ajit Pawar when he said that the slogan “Batenga to Katenga” was not suitable for Maharashtra.
Devendra Fadnavis said in an interview that Ajit Pawar has been living with secular and anti-Hindu ideologies for decades. To him, opposing Hinduism was living with people who were secular.
Ajit did not understand the meaning of the statement
Fadnavis further said it would take some time for Ajit to understand the public sentiment. These people either cannot understand public opinion or cannot understand the meaning of this sentence.
According to Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar might have meant to say something else when he was speaking, but he said something else.
If you divide, you will divide, but what did Ajit say?
Ajit Pawar objected to the slogans of ‘Batenge’ and ‘Katenge’, saying it is not Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Ajit says on one hand you talk about sabka saath and sabka vikas and on the other hand you talk about if we split or cut…how will this work?
Junior Pawar further said that the political sentiment in Maharashtra is different from that in Uttar Pradesh. People here are smart, so these slogans don’t mean anything.
BJP leaders also expressed opposition
Apart from Ajit Pawar, senior BJP leaders Pankaj Munde and Ashok Chavan also expressed their opposition to the “Batenge to Katnge” slogan. Both leaders publicly declared that the slogan was false.
Pankaja Munde is currently a member of the Legislative Council and Ashok Chavan is a member of the Lok Sabha.
