India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisors’ meeting. In the meeting held in St. Petersburg, Russia, the two officials discussed and reviewed the ongoing issues on the LAC.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to find an early solution to the LAC issue, emphasizing on stabilizing and rebuilding India-China relations. Both countries also agreed to double their efforts in areas where tensions persist.

NSA Ajit Doval spoke about the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility on the border and asserted that a stable LAC is a prerequisite for restoring normalcy in the comprehensive bilateral relations.

The Indian NSA reiterated that both countries should strictly follow the agreements and protocols that have been reached over the years. Apart from this, both the officials acknowledged that India-China relations are important not only for bilateral dynamics but also for regional and global stability.

Apart from discussions related to LAC, Ajit Doval and Wang exchanged views on broader regional and global issues. During this, the importance of cooperation between India and China in addressing emerging security concerns was discussed. This meeting is being seen as a positive step towards reducing tensions and increasing communication between the two neighboring countries, which have faced strained relations due to border disputes in recent years.
