Mohammad Aijaz Asad today assumed charge as Secretary, Rural Development Department-cum-Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR) and held an exclusive interactive meeting with officers and officials of Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.
Outgoing Secretary Dr Shahid Choudhary commended the officers for their hard work and dedication and expressed confidence that the department would provide best services under the new leadership.
In his speech, Aijaz Asad appreciated the initiatives taken under the guidance of Dr. Shahid to further streamline the department. “The innovative measures taken are commendable and this is a great opportunity to work in the rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir,” He stressed the need to continue to strengthen the Party’s leadership, continue to work hard to achieve major goals and seek benefits for the people.
Asad also reviewed the progress made by the department under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Prime Minister’s Individual Sufficiency Programme (PMAY-G), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), National Rural Aid Movement (RGSA) and Himalayan Mission. He stressed that the Ministry of Rural Development primarily serves the rural population and should give priority to projects that benefit the public.
The event was attended by Rural Health Department Secretary Rachna Sharma, Rural Health Director Anoo Malhotra, JKRLM General Manager Shubra Sharma, Rural Health Department Kashmir Director Shabir Hussain Bhat, Rural Health Department Director Jammu Mumtaz Ali, Rural Health Department Director Panchayati Raj Sham Lal and Finance Director Umar Khan among others.
