Chennai:
Last week BJP And AIADMK 2026 unveiled an alliance for the Tamil Nadu election.
This week the Dravidian party threw a spanner in its ally for the southern state, in the event that the alliance manages to defeat the ruling DMK-Congress.
AIADMK boss Edappi’s Palaniswami, or EPS comments, suggest that the Tamil party will not accept a coalition government and the alliance with the BJP is “for election”.
The BJP has not yet responded to the EPS announcement, but it is unlikely that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party will be affected. PM had expressed his happiness earlier – “Together together …” He posted on X on the AIADMK’s decision to join his party -led national alliance.
The EPS comments also opposed the people created by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, with whom he shared the stage last week, announcing the AIADMK-BJP alliance.
Mr. Shah had said that the two sides would contest elections “together” next year’s election and “no” status “was formed by the Tamil party.” … AIADMK, BJP and all coalition parties will contest the upcoming assembly elections as NDA together in Tamil Nadu, “he said.

The EPS then described the alliance as “installed on a shared vision for the progress and prosperity of Tamil Nadu”. And praised Mr. Modi’s “unwavering support” for the development of Tamil Nadu.
Clear Backetrack comes from today that some AIADMK leaders are unhappy with the possibility of a BJP alliance. Nakhushi is partially stems from concerns over the loss of votes from minority communities, and also a poor track record of the AIADMK -BJP coalition in the last three major elections in the state – 2021 assembly and 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
In 2021, AIADMK, affiliated to BJP, won 75 seats – below 136 in elections – and DMK and Congress were dropped out of power. It was rooted in the 2019 and 2024 general elections similarly, winning one of 20 and 34 seats respectively, it contested the election.
The BJP selected 28 seats in those two elections and won zero.
On the contrary, and it outlines the magnitude of the work in front of AIADMK, Chief Minister MK Stalin’s DMK set 100 percent records in two elections, winning 24 and 22 seats.
Bad performance in 2024 elections – which was amazing with an increase of 7.58 percent in vote share – BJP rethinks its options.
In Tamil Nadu politics, DMK and AIADMK, Dravidian Katha have strong roots parties, nor Congress nor BJP has ever succeeded in breaking.
This makes their respective alliances important to maintain the presence in the state.
The first alliance broke after Annamalai, then the owner of the BJP’s state unit attacked the previous Tamil party leaders, including former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and MG Ramachandran.

A fierce AIADMK demanded its resignation but the BJP refused to obtain. The speculation was that the BJP was trying to engineer a partition to focus on establishing itself in Tamil Nadu.
However, with the renovation of the alliance, the BJP also dropped Mr. Annamalai and, which has been seen as good optics, replaced him with a former AIADMK leader – Nanar entry,
