After Fadnavis and Uddhav Thackeray, CM Shinde’s bag was searched.
The politics of ‘bag raid’ in the Maharashtra Assembly elections are intense. Yesterday, Election Commission officials searched Uddhav Thackeray’s bag. The opposition became aggressive in response. Meanwhile, officials searched the bag of Deputy Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s luggage is currently being checked at the Palghar police ground helipad. CM Shinde has arrived there to campaign.

Before Shinde, Maharashtra Deputy Minister Ajit Pawar had his bag searched on Wednesday as he boarded a helicopter for a campaign event. Ajit said such measures were necessary for free and fair elections. He also posted on social media platform X.
Today, while I was on my way to campaign, the Election Commission conducted a routine inspection of my luggage and helicopter. I cooperate fully and believe these measures are critical to ensuring a free and fair election. Let us all respect the law and support efforts pic.twitter.com/lVDUPh174u

Everyone should respect the law
Pawar here said that everyone should respect the law. The preservation of the integrity of democracy should be supported. Earlier, the Maharashtra BJP released a video. The video is of officials checking the bag of Deputy Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In this regard, the BJP said that the constitution should not be used just for show. Everyone should also abide by the constitutional system.
Uddhav Thackeray’s claims and issues
The politics over handbag searches began with the Uddhav Thackeray case. Uddhav Thackeray alleged that officials checked his luggage after arriving in Latur and Yavatmal for the past two days for campaigning. Will the same rules apply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the ruling alliance?
