The effect of the political turmoil in Bangladesh is also being seen in India. On one hand, challenges have increased on the borders, while on the other hand, after this incident, the danger of activation of terrorist organizations has also increased. This is because even though it is being said that students have created an atmosphere against the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh. But all the intelligence reports show that active terrorist organizations were behind this violence, whose conspiracy was also against Bangladeshi Hindus.

According to reports, Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has reportedly partnered with Bangladesh’s Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) to carry out terrorist attacks in the north-eastern states of India. Intelligence information shows that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) played a big role in this change in Bangladesh. It had the support of other terrorist groups including Jamaat-e-Islami and ABT. The report reveals that an agreement was reached between ABT and LeT in 2022, the objective of which was to carry out terrorist attacks in India.

Tripura incident created this terrorist nexus

The report shows that Lashkar and ABT formed this alliance after the news of damage to mosques in Tripura. Intelligence inputs from 2022 indicated that around 50 to 100 ABT cadres were planning to infiltrate into Tripura. But many of these people were arrested.

What is Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT)

It begins in 2007 when an organization called Jamaat ul-Muslimeen comes into discussion. But due to lack of funding, its impact faded within a short time. Then in 2013 it re-emerged as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT). This group was banned in 2015. Then it branded itself as Ansar al-Islam. It was banned again in 2017. Ansar al-Islam has since established itself as the Bangladeshi branch of Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). The organization has been accused of killing several secular people in Bangladesh. According to the South Asia Terrorism Portal, around 425 ABT/Ansar al-Islam members have been arrested across Bangladesh since 2013.
