Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, won the T20 series against South Africa 3-1. Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma and Varun Chakraborty performed well for India in the T20 series. It was because of these players that the Indian team managed to win the series. Tilak scored a total of 280 runs in the series, including two centuries, and won the Player of the Series award. India won the fourth T20 match by 135 runs. In this match, South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee protested against the umpire’s decision. Following this, the ICC has now taken action against him.
Gerard Coetzee admits his mistake
Gerald Coetzee has been criticized for protesting against an umpire’s decision during a T20 international match. He made inappropriate remarks after the referee declared one of his balls “outside.” An ICC press release stated that Gerald Coetzee was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to protesting against umpire’s decisions during T20 international matches. One point was deducted from his disciplinary record. He admitted the crime and punishment, so a formal trial was not required.
If 4 points are deducted within 24 months, you will be banned from the competition
The minimum penalty for a Level 1 violation is an official reprimand, with the maximum penalty being 50% of the player’s match fee and one to two points deducted from the player’s account. When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, those demerits will be converted to suspension points and the player will be suspended.
Gerard Coetzee had a poor performance in the T20 series against India. He took only four wickets in four T20 matches. He has taken 12 wickets in 10 T20 internationals for South Africa so far. He has 10 wickets in Tests and 31 wickets in ODIs.
