A surprising case of negligence has taken place in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Here, a man cremated someone else’s body in place of his dead wife. After performing the last rites, he was busy preparing for his wife’s 13th funeral, when he realized that the body for which he performed the last rites was not his wife at all.
The man who performed the last rites was not pregnant and his wife, who went missing before her “death”, was six months pregnant, but an unclaimed body was found after the woman disappeared. My wife’s brother saw the clothes on the body in the morgue and recognized her as my sister. Subsequently, the police conducted an autopsy and handed the body to the husband. Her husband performed her last rites, but when the post-mortem report came out, it was discovered that the woman who performed her last rites was not pregnant.
Vijay Kumar, a resident of Gujani, Kanpur, got married to his wife Komal on March 12 this year. Vijay was a bakery employee and their marriage was going well, but on October 18, Komal suddenly disappeared. Komal’s hometown is Kaushambi. When Vijay informed his in-laws, they rushed from there and conducted extensive investigation. Later, on October 19, Vijay reported his wife missing to the Gujani police station.
After this, on October 20, the body of an abandoned woman was found in the Pandav canal in Gujani. Police were unable to identify him and left him at the morgue. On October 23, Komal’s brother Dheeraj went with his aunt and saw the abandoned woman’s body. After seeing the clothes, he said this is my sister’s body. Later, the police conducted an autopsy on the body and handed it over to her husband, Vijay. Vijay performed the last rites of the body on the same day. Everyone believes that Komal might have somehow reached near Pandu Nagar and drowned there.
Now, when the autopsy report comes out, husband Vijay is shocked to find out where his child who grew up in his wife’s womb has gone. Because the body found was not pregnant, that is to say, the body examined during the autopsy was not pregnant. If pregnancy was not found in the autopsy report, then that body was not that of his wife. Vijay then contacted the police. Police said your brother-in-law identified the body at the autopsy room. In this case, SHO of Gujaini police station Vinay Tiwari said that if the body is not that of Komal, it can now be identified through DNA. The whereabouts of his wife will also be investigated and who is the woman who performed his last rites revealed.
