A minor gang rape victim in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, lost her battle for life. She was treated in the hospital for 16 days but could not be saved despite millions of efforts. Four youths dragged her out of her house and raped her. Suffering from the injury, the minor took poison and has been receiving treatment in a private hospital in the city for the past two weeks.
The victim’s father is a farmer. He told me that late at night on August 30, 2024, my 14-year-old daughter was studying on the balcony of our house. My wife and I were at home. At the same time, Irfan alias Kaku, Israel, Raja alias Islam and Imran from the same village came and did something bad to my daughter. When we came out after hearing our daughter’s screams, the accused started running away after seeing us. As soon as the sound was heard, people from the neighborhood came and caught Raja alias Islam while he was running away. He was also beaten but was later released and ran away.
The report said that the next day after the incident, the defendant and his family threatened the victim’s family, saying that if they complained to the police, they would have to face the consequences. The daughter drank the pesticide under threat, and her condition worsened.
According to the victim’s father, we rushed our daughter to the hospital, but her condition did not improve. He was then taken to a private hospital in Civil Lines for treatment. But on Monday morning, his daughter died during treatment.
Throughout the incident, DCP East Shravan Kumar Singh said that after the incident, an FIR was registered against four accused on September 2 on serious charges including gang rape. All four have been arrested and sent to jail. Soon, the murder case will also be included in the case.
He said that the charge sheet will be submitted as soon as possible and the accused will be severely punished. We will make every effort to impose severe punishment on the four as soon as possible.
