The Afghan cricket team has performed brilliantly over the past year. For the Afghanistan team, 2024 can be said to be the best year so far in their international cricket journey. After losing the first game in Harare by 4 wickets, Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by 50 runs in the second T20I and now won the third T20I by 3 wickets , and sealed the series 2-1. In this way, Afghanistan maintained the record of undefeated T20I cricket series against Zimbabwe. A total of 6 T20I series were played between the two teams. All three matches of the T20I series are played at Harare Sports Club. Hosts Zimbabwe, who batted first in the third T20I, could not even complete 20 overs and collapsed for 127 in 19.5 overs. Captain Rashid Khan took 4 wickets for Afghanistan. Naveen Ul Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Azmatullah took 2 wickets each. Against Zimbabwe’s score, Afghanistan achieved the target of 128 runs by losing 7 wickets in 19.3 overs. Azmatullah Umarzai contributed the most with 34 points. Azmatullah Umarzai was adjudged Man of the Match while Naveen-ul-Haq was named Man of the Series for his outstanding performance with ball and bat.
