Earlier this year, at least three people have been killed by a rare and deadly virus who killed actor Jean Hackman’s wife. The deaths occurred in the rural California city of Maamath Lakes and “worried” local health officials.

What is hantavirus?
There is a group of huntwirus virus that can lead to serious diseases such as Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) and hemorrhagic fever, according to the disease control and prevention (CDC) center.
Humans are usually infected through contact with urine, drops, or saliva from infected rodents – mainly by breathing in particles from contaminated dust. The virus does not spread from person to another. In very rare cases, it can also spread through a rodent bite or scratch.
In one of the latest California cases, the victim was believed to have exposed rodent waste in a house with a known transition. Another person’s possibility also became infected at home. Officials were surprised about the third case.
“We do not have a clear understanding of where this young adult may have contracted the virus,” said Mr. Boo.
Hantavirus: Symptoms
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) usually begins with flu -like symptoms such as fever, headache, chills, body pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and a dry cough. As the disease increases, it can cause breathing problems.
