The couple (Saurabh Babbar-Mona) from Saharanpur, UP, embraced death after being troubled by the debtors. He went to Haridwar and jumped into the Ganga. This incident shocked everyone. Now the statement of Congress MP Imran Masood has come in this matter. He has demanded action against moneylenders. Masood said that illegal work is being done in the committee system (depositing money among themselves and then borrowing on installments). People are committing suicide like this due to debt, it is very sad.
It is being told that about 5 committees Saurabh Babbar Had started. There were 200 members in a committee and each member had an installment of ₹ 2000. The tenure of all the committees had ended and the money had to be returned to the people. The amount of liability had reached crores.
Actually, in the committee system, equal amount of money is taken from all the members, tokens are given and bids are placed. The one whose token comes out first gets the deposited money on interest. It has to be returned within the stipulated time period. But Saurabh was not able to return the committee’s money. People started coming to his house.
What did Imran Masood say?
Saharanpur Congress MP Imran Masood said that all illegal work is happening in the committee. People are committing suicide due to debt. A very sad incident has happened. The game of loan sharks/usurers is rampant in the city. This has become their daily drama. I have spoken to the officials in this regard. There should be strict action in this. Yesterday I went to his (deceased) house, I felt very sad after seeing the family members.
It is known that recently Imran Masood had reached the house of the deceased and expressed his condolences. Masood had written on ‘X’ – I am very sad to hear the news of suicide of Saharanpur jewelers businessman Saurabh Babbar and his wife. This is an unfortunate incident. Difficulties come in life, but suicide is not the solution. We should not give up. Instead of suicide, we should try to find solutions to the problems. We should take help from our family, friends and society. One should be prepared to face the difficulties of life and should not give up.

Meanwhile, while talking to the media today regarding the rape incident in Kolkata, Imran Masood said that there is a deformity in the society, society should pay attention, strictest action should be taken against the culprits. No matter who is guilty, no one should get it.
Regarding the incident in Bangladesh, Masood said that whatever happened inside Bangladesh is very sad and we are completely with the government. The government has to decide. Thousands of people are standing on the border of Bangladesh. Government leaders are making statements. Hey, will we go there with sticks? Whatever has to be done, the government has to do, why is the government not allowing them to come inside?
