SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has reacted to the case of a woman’s decapitated nude dead body found on the highway in Kanpur. He also questioned the police theory which said that the woman may have died in an accident. However, prima facie, the possibility of murder after rape is being suspected. At present, the police is investigating the incident. The post-mortem report is awaited.
According to the news agency, Kanpur police said on Thursday that the half-naked body of a 40-year-old woman was found on the Delhi-Varanasi national highway, whose head was partially torn off. Police said that based on the circumstances in which the body was found, it is likely that the victim was raped and then murdered and the body was thrown on the highway.
Meanwhile, DCP (South) Ravindra Kumar said that it is also possible that the victim died in a road accident. He said that apart from the local police, forensic experts also reached the spot and collected teeth and bone fragments for investigation.
These questions are arising
However, many questions are being raised on this theory of the police, such as – if it was an accident, then where did the woman’s head disappear? Why was there not a single piece of clothing on the body? Where was the woman for two and a half hours after she left the house in the morning? How did she reach the other side of the highway? If a vehicle hit her, then why was no glass or mark found on the spot.
On all these questions, the Additional Commissioner says that the postmortem report is being awaited, after which things will become clear. It is possible that the clothes may have been removed after some vehicles passed by, the head may have been crushed after being run over by the vehicle, all such things are being investigated. Whatever complaint the family will give, a case will be registered and investigation will be done accordingly.

Akhilesh wrote on ‘X’ – In another heartbreaking incident of crime against women in Uttar Pradesh, a headless, naked body of a woman was found on the highway of Kanpur. Morality says that the evidence of ruthless violence and immense physical torture inflicted on the deceased should not be mentioned. There should be an impartial investigation in the direction of the suspicion that the deceased was raped and then murdered, and the criminals should be identified and given such punishment that can provide justice to the deceased and create fear in the minds of those who commit the crime by defying the police and the government, so that such crimes against women do not recur. It is hoped that the BJP government will rise above politics and get this investigated.
Police investigation continues
DCP Ravindra Kumar said- We looked at the footage of 104 CCTV cameras in the vicinity and achieved success after identifying the woman in three videos. She was seen walking alone on the service lane and the highway. Footage from CCTV cameras installed in a nearby hospital showed the woman crossing the service lane towards the highway a few hours before the body was found.
Police said that there is no CCTV camera installed at the place where the body was found. Police reached the house of the deceased woman, which is about 4 kilometers away from the place where the body was found.
The DCP further said that the victim’s husband told the police that his wife was suffering from cervical pain and was unable to sleep for several nights. She had gone out alone early in the morning while he slept and may have died in a road accident. The body has been kept in the freezer of the mortuary and sent for post-mortem to confirm the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander said that a panel of three doctors is monitoring the post-mortem and the entire proceedings are being videographed. Chander also clarified that the initial rumour of the woman’s head being chopped off was false. He said that the woman’s head was badly bruised and some flesh was also found on the road ahead of the place where the body was found.
