The air in the country’s capital Delhi remains “toxic”. Visibility was significantly reduced on Monday due to toxic smoke. The environment minister of the Delhi government held a meeting on the growing pollution in the national capital and the implementation of GRAP-4. In a meeting with heads of relevant departments, he brainstormed on strict implementation of Grape-4 rules. After this, Environment Minister Gopal Rai gave the information at a press conference. He also blamed the central government. He said half the country was polluted but central government ministers remained silent.

Gopal Rai said that today the whole of North India is severely polluted. The elderly have difficulty breathing. Children’s schools had to close. People’s lives are being negatively affected. The air quality index for Bahadurgarh is 477. Similar situations have occurred elsewhere. The entire North India is bearing the brunt of pollution while the central government sleeps. Wonder where the federal environment minister is sitting quietly?

Half the country is mired in pollution, but ministers remain silent

Gopal Rai said that when half the country is plagued by pollution and everyone needs to work together, central government ministers are silent. Our government has reduced stubble incidents in Punjab. We’ve reduced it from 47,000 to 8,000. However, under the BJP government, cases are increasing. The number of accidents increased from 1,500 to 2,500.

Polluting BS-4 buses are running

He said the BS-4 buses causing pollution were running across Delhi. If the BJP government in power for the third time had taken the right steps, we would not have seen this day. We had written a letter to the Union Minister in August requesting a meeting between IIT Kanpur and the Delhi government to carry out artificial rainfall amid rising pollution.

Gopal Rai said the meeting was not held until three months later. There is no answer yet on how serious the central government is and whether it will hold a meeting. How long can you leave contaminated people unattended? You will neither do the work nor allow it to be done. Regarding working from home, Gopal Rai said he will take a decision after reading the Supreme Court order. Regarding the implementation of odd and even numbers, he said that we are monitoring and will take all necessary measures.

Can artificial rainfall solve pollution problems?

Experts say there is no solution, Gopal Rai said. We have to do this and get permission from the central government, but the decision can only be taken during a meeting. Scientists from IIT Kanpur will talk about how artificial rainfall occurs. We would tell you about the spending, but central government has not revealed anything for two and a half months.
