A leopard attacked and killed a 60 year old woman in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. Regarding the incident, the officer said that on Saturday, a leopard suddenly attacked a woman in a field and killed her.

According to the news agency, Forest Ranger Dushyant Singh said that the deceased woman has been identified as Santosh Devi, a resident of Pilana village. Singh said the woman had gone to the fields with her sons, Subodh Tyagi and Amod Tyagi, to collect fodder for the animals when the leopard attacked them. He died due to serious injuries.

After the death of the woman, local people protested and blocked the road for more than four hours. He told that after the local officials explained, people ended the jam.

On receiving the information, District Magistrate Ankit Aggarwal reached the spot and assured a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased. According to the ranger, four cages have been installed to catch the animal. On the other hand, the body of the deceased woman has been sent for post-mortem.
