In fact, on October 17, a burglary took place at the house of Additional District Sessions Judge Devdutt Patnaik. The thieves gained entry by damaging the ventilator at the judge’s residence. After that, he very bravely cooked and ate at the judge’s house and washed the dishes, fearing to be caught and avoid suspicion. The judge had gone to his village for puja holidays when the incident took place.

On November 21, after the matter came to light, the judge immediately filed a complaint. After receiving the complaint, the police immediately swung into action and immediately launched an operation to arrest the thief. After investigating all the facts, the police arrested the two thieves. The names of the arrested youths are Shiv Malik and Toofan Maharana. Both thieves have criminal records.

When reporting the incident, the police said, “This incident was carried out by thieves at around 12 o’clock in the morning on October 17.” Since the judge was not at home, he did not know about it. On October 21, the judge registered the complaint and as soon as the case was registered, we started investigation. Police said the burglars were inside the home for about an hour and celebrated the theft in some way. He said Sections 331(2), 331(4) and 305 of the BNS were initially imposed on the thieves, but when they were produced in court, the judge declared it to be a robbery taking into account the timing of the incident. By changing the provisions imposed on thieves, BNS Sections 331(1), 333(3), 305, 3(5) are now imposed on them. Police said one of the accused had 12 cases registered against him in Ganjam district. 10 cases were registered against him in Panjanagar alone, one in Buguda and one in Halikot, so these are habitual offenders. “
