A newlywed couple returned from their honeymoon and were both killed in a car accident just 10 kilometers from home.

A horrific road accident occurred in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. A car collided with a bus carrying pilgrims on Sunday morning. In the accident, four family members, including the newlyweds, died in the car.

Accident on Punalur-Muwathupuzha national highway

According to police, the accident took place on the Punalur-Muvattupuzha national highway around 5 am. Locals said the passengers were rescued from the damaged vehicle. Three people died at the scene, including one who died on the way to hospital, police said.

No one on the bus was injured

It is understood the car collided with a bus. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Telangana to Sabarimala. No passengers on the bus were injured.

The accident happened only 10 kilometers away from home.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the newlyweds, who got married last month, were returning home after honeymooning in Malaysia. Police said the accident occurred only 10 kilometers away from the victim’s home. The case has been filed.
