Let us tell you that on May 3, 2023, after an order of the Manipur High Court, violence started between two communities in the northeastern state of Manipur, India, which has still not completely calmed down. This ethnic conflict between the majority Meitei community living in the Imphal Valley and the Kuki-Jo tribal community living in the surrounding hills started after the court’s order, in which the Manipur government was asked to consider the demand to include the Meitei community in the ST category. However, about a year after the violence started, the Manipur High Court withdrew its order.
