The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided more than a dozen locations in Jharkhand and West Bengal as part of an ongoing probe into alleged money laundering infiltration in Bangladesh. The raid was carried out a day before Jharkhand polls. The searches were conducted by different teams of the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The Education Bureau is investigating several individuals and organizations suspected of being involved in cross-border illegal financial activities.

The DOE raid began in the early hours of Tuesday and is expected to expose more links and financial records. Meanwhile, the ED has also taken over the Bangladeshi infiltration case registered in Ranchi. On June 6 this year, a case of alleged Bangladeshi infiltration was registered at the Bariyatu Police Station in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Currently, ED has accepted the case. The Education Bureau is expected to further investigate the financial and logistics networks related to the case.

Why and how did illegal Bangladeshis become a threat to the country?

According to sources, many criminal syndicates are active in West Bengal and Jharkhand, which border Bangladesh, and help Bangladeshis cross the border illegally. These agents create fake documents and Aadhar cards for these Bangladeshis and collect money from these infiltrators. The Department of Education is taking this action in response to a money laundering investigation in an effort to bring an end to this syndicate.

According to intelligence agencies, these infiltrators are posing a threat to India’s internal security. These Bangladeshis stay in India and are involved in illegal activities. Recently, an investigation by the National Intelligence Agency found that they conspired with the Bangladeshi illegal terrorist organization “Al Qaeda” to cause terrorist incidents in India. These terrorist groups also provide funding to Al Qaeda. Also on Monday, the NIN conducted raids in nine states of the country and carried out operations against Bangladesh and al-Qaeda networks. West Bengal and Bihar were also involved in the attack.
