Srinagar, Apr 28, KDC: Speaking during a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Sunday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief over the Pahgam attack who killed 26 people, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to decide a proper response to Pakistan.
Addressing the house, Abdullah said, “This incident has affected the whole country. We have seen many such attacks in the past … Baisaran has been attacked on such a large scale after 21 years.” Apparently emotional, he said, “I didn’t know how apologizing to the families of the deceased.
Explaining that he would not politicize the tragedy, Abdullah said that he would not increase the demand of the state at this moment of mourning.
“I will not use this moment to demand the state. After Pahgam, with which face can I ask for the state for Jammu and Kashmir? What is my Sasti Siyasat?
Meanwhile, reacting to the Pahalgam attack, China called for quiet and restraint between India and Pakistan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a brief statement, “We hope that both sides will show restraint.”
Special assembly session, marked by sombre speeches and silence, reflects deep grief and anxiety prevalent across the country after a cruel attack. (KDC
