'Shock to brain and heart': Class IX student dies after scuffle over school bus seat in Tamil Nadu
A scuffle between two Class IX students over a seat on a school bus led to the death of 14-year-old Kandaguru in Salem.

SALEM: A scuffle between two Class IX students over a seat on the school bus left one of them dead after he fell and hit his head, near Edappadi in Salem district on Monday evening.
The altercation began when the bus neared Vellandivalasu. When the other boy hit Kandaguru, 14, on the chest, he fell and the back of his head hit the bus floor and he became unconscious, said Salem district superintendent of police Gautam Goyal.
The school bus crew rushed Kandaguru to a private hospital where doctors said his condition was critical.

Two shocks to heart and brain caused boy’s death, says doctor

He was transferred to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Salem where he died on Tuesday morning.
“When the boy struck him in the chest, the victim fell and the back of his head hit the bus floor. Two consecutive shocks to his heart and brain contributed to Kandaguru’s death,” said a doctor who treated him, speaking on condition of anonymity.
On a complaint from Kandaguru’s parents, the Edappadi police registered a case against the other boy, who has been sent to a govt correctional home. Police personnel have been stationed at the private school for security.
