Kuwait City: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a guard of honor on Sunday, the last day of his visit to Kuwait. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi is on a two-day visit to the Gulf country, the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years. Today is the last day of his trip. He visited Kuwait at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He also spoke of the existence of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi said that India and Kuwait have deep historical relations. Both countries will transform traditional buyer-seller relationships into strategic partnerships by exploring opportunities across the oil and gas industry. Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for a two-day visit, the first by an Indian prime minister in four decades. In an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Modi said that he hopes to help Gaza and Ukraine restore peace as soon as possible. He stressed that such conflicts cannot find solutions on the battlefield. Prime Minister Modi also reiterated India’s support for a negotiated two-state solution to establish a sovereign, independent and capable state for Palestine.
There is huge potential for cooperation between India and Kuwait
Kuwait is the sixth largest supplier of crude oil and the fourth largest supplier of LPG to India. Modi said that as India is becoming the world’s third largest consumer of energy, oil and LPG, there is huge potential for further cooperation. He said that Kuwait’s oil reserves account for about 6.5% of the world’s oil reserves. Modi said that the “petrochemical” industry provides another promising cooperation opportunity. India’s rapidly growing “petrochemical” industry will be worth US$300 billion by 2025. He said that the energy partnership between the two countries is not only a pillar of economic relations, but also a driving force for diversified and sustainable development, paving the way for a future of common prosperity.
Modi says cooperation with Gulf countries is important
Modi said that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is extremely important to India. The GCC is an organization composed of six Middle Eastern countries, including Kuwait. He said India’s relations with the Gulf countries are based on historical, cultural and trade ties. The GCC region accounts for about one-sixth of India’s total trade and is home to about one-third of the Indian diaspora. He said that around 9 million Indians living in the region (GCC) are actively contributing to its economic growth. The Prime Minister said that the Indian community is a bridge between the two countries. He said that economic and trade cooperation has always been an important pillar of bilateral relations.
