ICC sentences South Africa star player, costly mistake

A three-match ODI series is ongoing between South Africa and Pakistan. Pakistan won the first two games of the series. The South African team, which was trailing 0-2 in this series, once again suffered a big blow. In fact, a South African player was condemned by the ICC. That player was none other than Heinrich Klassen. Heinrich Klaasen has been fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI of the three-match series against Pakistan on Thursday. Klassen was fined 15% of his match fee for a level one infringement.

What’s going on?

After being dismissed in the second match of the series against Pakistan, Klassen’s foot hit the stumps. In fact, Klassen was out after scoring 97 points in this game. He was dismissed by Naseem Shah in the 44th over. His team is chasing a target of 330 runs. Klassen looked a bit disappointed as he missed a century and his team failed to win. His wicket was the last one and South Africa lost the match by 81 runs.

Match referee imposes fine

Klassen was also deducted one point for Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the misuse of cricket equipment or apparel, on-field equipment or fixtures and fittings during international matches. Match referee Richie Richardson imposed the penalty. South Africa lost the match and the three-match series at home. Pakistan had an undisputed 2-0 lead with one game left and were now looking to win. In this game, South Africa hopes to avoid being swept.
