What does the constitution of the BJP say?
As per the BJP constitution, organizational elections for at least half of the state units should be completed before the process of selecting the state president begins. The term of the party’s national president is three years. However, in view of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024, JP Nadda’s term was extended.
Nadda became president of the country in 2020
In February 2020, Nadda was elected as the new national chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Nadda is the 11th national chairman of the party. Thereafter, even before Nadda’s term ends in January 2023, Amit Shah said that the BJP National Executive Committee has unanimously decided to extend the term of party president JP Nadda till June 2024. Since then till date, Nadda is discharging his duties as the BJP president.
