The Allahabad High Court has dealt a blow to Abbas Ansari, with his bail plea rejected in the Gangster Act case.

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday dealt a heavy blow to Suheldev Samajwadi Party (SBSP) MLA Abbas Ansari. The High Court rejected Abbas Ansari’s bail plea. The SBSP MLA has filed a bail application in the high court in a case registered under the Gangster Act. Mukhtar Ansari’s son Abbas Ansari will have to remain in jail following the court’s ruling.

The hearing on Abbas Ansari’s bail plea was completed in the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday. The court reserved its ruling after chamber arguments concluded. The Allahabad High Court today refused to grant bail to Abbas Ansari. Abbas Ansari has filed a bail application as directed by the Supreme Court. The order was passed by a single bench of Justice Samit Gopal.

The Allahabad High Court also relied on Abbas Ansari’s record as the primary basis for its verdict. The court verdict stated that a total of 11 criminal cases were registered against Abbas Ansari in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Abbas Ansari has been described as a gang leader in a case registered under the Gangster Act.

Abbas Ansari’s lawyer Upendra Upadia presented his arguments on behalf of Abbas Ansari in court. While other lawyers General Manish Goyal and government lawyer AK Sand attended the meeting on behalf of the state government. Government lawyers also laid out the criminal history of Abbas Ansari’s family in court and asked for no bail.

An FIR was registered against Abbas Ansari and others under the Gangster Act at Calvi police station in Chitrakoot on August 31, 2024. Abbas Ansari is currently lodged in Kasganj jail in Uttar Pradesh. Previously, Subhashpa’s Ministry of Justice had submitted a petition to the Supreme Court seeking interim bail. However, the court refused to grant relief to Abbas Ansari and ordered an appeal to the High Court.
