SC condemns AAP govt over Delhi pollution
The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Delhi Chief Secretary over air pollution in the National Capital Region of Delhi. The court reprimanded the Delhi government for not paying compensation to workers during the ban on construction work. The court has ordered NCR states, including Delhi, to provide compensation to workers affected by Grape-4.
The Supreme Court said that we direct all NCR states to find out which workers are affected by Grape-4. If workers’ compensation is not considered, we will consider contempt proceedings against the states. The Supreme Court has sought affidavits from NCR states by January 5.
The Delhi government told the Supreme Court that it has issued a notification imposing a complete ban on firecrackers in the national capital region throughout the year. Delhi has also banned the sale, storage and trading of firecrackers.
