New Delhi: A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was established on the One Nation, One Election Bill. A 31-member joint parliamentary committee has been formed, chaired by BJP MP PP Chaudhary. Twenty-one members of the Lok Sabha and 10 members of the Federal House will become members of the JPC. Lok Sabha MPs who have become members of the JPC include Priyanka Gandhi, Bansuri Swaraj, Manish Tiwari and Kalyan Banerjee.
According to sources, Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Manish Tiwari, NCP’s Supriya Sule, TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee and BJP’s PP Choudhary, Bansuri Swaraj and Anurag Singh Thakur have been inducted into the JPC.

Members of the Lok Sabha include PP Chaudhary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, CM Ramesh, Bansuri Swaraj, Purushottam Bhai Rupala, Anurag Singh Thakur, Vishnu Dayal Ram, Bhartrihari Mahtab, Sambit Patra, Anil Baluni, Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, Manish Tewari and Sukhdev Bhagat. Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav, TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee, NCP (Sharad faction) Supriya Sule, DMK’s TM Selvaganapathy, TDP’s GM Harish Balayogi, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) Shrikant Eknath Shinde, Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Chandan Chauhan and Janasena Party’s Balashowri Vallabhaneni has been inducted into the Junior Police Association. The 31-member panel will include 10 members from the House of Federation.
The opposition opposes
Let us tell you that “One Nation, One Election” was introduced in Parliament on Tuesday. This was opposed by opposition MPs. Members of the opposition argued that the proposed changes could disproportionately benefit the ruling party, giving it undue influence over the electoral process in the states and undermining the autonomy of regional parties.
The bills, which were approved by the cabinet last week, are aimed at facilitating simultaneous holding of Lok Sabha and state assembly elections across the country. During the submission of the bill, 269 members voted in favor and 196 members voted against. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that when the ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill was submitted to the Cabinet for approval, Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted on sending it to the Judiciary Committee for detailed discussion.
