New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh’s troubles have increased. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s wife Surakshana Sawant has filed a Rs 100-crore defamation suit against Sanjay Singh. Sanjay Singh reportedly named Sulakshana Sawant during a press conference in Goa earlier this month for her involvement in ” Cash for jobs scam”. Sulakshana Sawant filed a defamation suit against Sanjay Singh in the High Court of Civil Magistrate Bihorin, Goa.

Allegation without any reliable evidence

Sanjay Singh linked Surakshana Sawant to a “cash-for-job scam” in Goa, claiming she was involved in corruption, state news reports said. “These statements were broadcast live on multiple national and regional news channels and widely shared on social media platforms such as YouTube, gaining widespread attention,” the complaint states. The defamation lawsuit alleges that the false accusations were made without any credible evidence. Cases were raised which damaged the integrity and public image of Sulakshana Sawant. Not only were Sanjay Singh’s comments damaging, they were widely disseminated and shared, leading to false accusations.

Replies will be given on January 10, 2025

“The defamation incident occurred during a press conference in which Sanjay Singh directly accused Surakshana Sawant of his integrity and her involvement in fraud, thereby damaging his reputation,” the release said. .” Sulakshana Sawant has filed a defamation suit for Rs 100 crore. Taking this into consideration, the civil case judge held a hearing and issued notice to Sanjay Singh, who has to file his reply on January 10, 2025.

Call for an end to public statements

Surakshana Sawant, through her lawyer, requested the court to direct Singh to issue an apology statement clarifying that the above defamatory video/article and interview were false and unfounded and said he apologized unconditionally. The complainant also urged the court to restrain Singh from making any defamatory public statement against him on social media or other platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Many candidates in Goa complained that they were forced to pay hundreds of thousands of rupees to some who promised jobs in the Goa government. The chief minister said the state police were investigating the alleged cash-for-job scam in a transparent manner.
