We are being addressed by those who do not respect the Constitution… Why did Hague say this in the House of Federation?

Mallikarjun Kharge elaborates his views in Rajya Sabha

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for promoting “politics of hate” during the constitutional debate. Haq also responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “jumla” accusations against the Congress and said it was his government. They fool people with false promises.

Refuting the allegations of the BJP, Haq said that in 1971, under the Indira Gandhi government, the Indian army bifurcated Pakistan into two parts and liberated Bangladesh. He also urged the Center to ensure the safety of Hindu minorities in neighboring countries. The BJP leaders continued to insult Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi and then started preaching honesty in public life.

Hager further said that simply blaming each other is not helpful. The Jan Sangh had worked to build the constitution on the basis of Manusriti laws and that was the intention of the RSS. Those who disdain the Tricolor, Ashoka Chakra and the Constitution are lecturing us. On the day the constitution came into effect, these people burned effigies of Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru at Ramliramadan. They shamelessly insulted the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Hager accused of uncovering mistakes of previous administration

Haq also accused the BJP of always trying to find out the mistakes of the previous government. Hager said that previous governments have achieved many historic achievements, but those currently in power are only focused on blaming previous regimes. Are you here to spread rumors, point out past mistakes, or engage in healthy constitutional discussion?

The leader of the opposition in the House of Federation said the ruling party should first correct its own mistakes before highlighting the failures of others. He also accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of “insulting” the national flag and said the organization hoisted the tricolor at its headquarters in 2002 only after a court order.

Khage also mentioned Manusmriti

Haq said that in 1949, RSS leaders opposed the Indian Constitution as it was not based on Manusmriti. He never accepted the flag. Haq said that on January 26, 2002, the tricolor was hoisted for the first time at the RSS headquarters following a court order.

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “humla” charge against the Congress during the constitutional debate in the Lok Sabha, Haq said, You are accusing us of lying. You are the biggest liar. You promised Rs 15 lakh into people’s bank accounts. You promised to provide 20 million job opportunities, and you promised to double the income of farmers. None of this is done yet.

Accusing the ruling party of betraying the country

He accused the ruling party of fooling and deceiving the country and said that if schemes like MNREGA, food security (under UPA) were not launched, the country would be in trouble during the coronavirus pandemic. He refuted the prime minister’s allegation that the constitution was first illegally amended in 1947-52 and said the prime minister sought loopholes in the constitution out of hatred for Nehru.
