After the disastrous defeats in Haryana and Maharashtra, the Congress has been raising questions about the EVM. Now that its allies are backing EVM, Congress appears to be alone on the issue. Omar Abdullah, the first chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, and Abhishek Banerjee, current TMC MP and national general secretary of the party, have both issued statements in support of the EVM. He said those who have questions about EVMs, if they have any questions, then they should go to the Election Commission and show demonstrations.
The TMC MP further said that if the work was done properly at the time of EVM randomization and the checks were carried out by the people working at the booths during the mock polls and counting of votes, then I do not think there is any substance in this allegation. Banerjee said that if anyone still thinks that EVMs can be hacked, then they should meet the Election Commission and show how EVMs can be hacked. He said that just making meaningless remarks will not achieve anything.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said Congress should think about it, at least when members of the Indian Union say so.
