Expansion of Devendra’s cabinet.
Maharashtra won an overwhelming majority of seats in the Maharashtra assembly elections. After a battle for the chief ministership, Devendra Fadnavis was finally sworn in as the new chief minister of the state. Former CM Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar become deputy chief ministers, but cabinet expansion remains pending. Finally, Fadnavis’ cabinet was expanded in Nagpur on Sunday, 22 days after the election results were announced. A total of 39 newly elected provincial councilors were sworn in for this cabinet.
Governor Radhakrishnan swore in 39 MLAs. Among them, 33 were sworn in as cabinet ministers and 6 were sworn in as ministers of state. At this swearing-in ceremony, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other senior leaders per person on stage.
Many old faces and seniors have been placed in the cabinet. New faces were also given opportunities. On Sunday, 39 ministers were sworn in. Among them, 19 MLAs are from the Bharatiya Janata Party, 11 from the Shinde Group and 9 from the Ajit Pawar Group. Among them, 25 are new faces. With this, the number of Fadnavis cabinets has now increased to 42. The cabinet can have up to 43 members. As a result, one ministerial post remains vacant.

A total of 25 new faces have been given a chance to enter Fadnavis’ cabinet. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ganesh Naik, Jaykumar Rawal, Pankaja Munde, Ashok Uike, Ashish Shelar, Dattatreya Bharne, Shivendraraje Bhosale, Manikrao Kokate, Jaykumar Gore, Narhari Jirwal, Sanjay Savkare, Sanjay Shirsat, Pratap Sarnaik, Bharat Gogwale, Makrand Patil, Nitesh Rane, Akash Penderkar, Babasaheb Patil, Prakash Abitkar, Madhuri Misal, Ashish Jaiswal, Pankaj Bhoyar, Meghna Bordikar, Indranil Naik were appointed as ministers for the first time.
Four female MLAs get ministerial posts
Four women MLAs have been appointed as ministers in Fadnavis’ cabinet. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pankaja Munde and NCP MP Aditi Tatkare have been appointed as cabinet ministers. Madhuri Misal, a BJP MP from Parvat constituency and Meghna Bordikar, a BJP leader from Kintur constituency, have been appointed as state ministers minister. There are 4 female MLAs serving as ministers. Among them, three are from the Bharatiya Janata Party and one is from the NCP. Meanwhile, not a single woman MP from the Shiv Sena Shinde faction has been appointed as a minister.
