Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of eradicating tuberculosis in the country by 2025. To raise awareness, members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha organized a cricket match at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi. The competition aims to accelerate the TB-Free India campaign in the country.
The contest is between members of the House of Commons and members of the House of Federation. Lok Sabha team 11 won this match. Lok Sabha 11 Captain Anurag Singh Thakur said awareness among people is very important to eradicate TB from its roots. He said a target has been set to eliminate tuberculosis from the world by 2030. Nonetheless, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a 2025 target for India. He said such competitions are organized to bring this activity to every home.
Tuberculosis cases are declining
Anurag Singh Thakur said that Prime Minister Modi has set a goal of eliminating tuberculosis in India by 2025 and the global goal is 2030. Since 2015, tuberculosis deaths have dropped by 38%. New cases fell 18%. Globally this figure is approximately 8%. This means that India is performing better than the rest of the world.
The match will also be held outside Delhi
Union Minister Ram Mahon Naidu said TB is a disease that has plagued many people over the years. As times change, it becomes necessary to eliminate it completely. He said everyone had gathered in Delhi to discuss Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign to eliminate TB. The campaign will also be extended to other states in the country.
All MPs stay away from party politics
The cricket match was attended by MPs from all parties. During this process, all parties and opposition MPs gathered at the scene. Many MPs joined the fray years later. Rohtak MP Deependra Hooda, who won the title of best bowler, said he is still playing cricket like this after nearly a decade. Tuberculosis is a serious disease and everyone is committed to eliminating it, he said.
The magic of former India captain
Mohammad Azharuddin, former MP and captain of the Indian cricket team, participated in the match. He joined from Rajya Sabha 11. Azharuddin was awarded the title of best batsman for his outstanding batting performance. He said that whenever social work requires him to go to the scene, he will definitely participate. He said the campaign would prove highly effective in eliminating TB.
Fitness is important
Federal Minister Kiren Rijiju said that only a healthy body can lay the foundation of a healthy country. Sports, he said, is a medium that can create awareness among people about staying healthy. Kiren Rijiju said everyone’s role in the game is the same no matter which party they are on, which unites all MPs.
