Sambalpur: The body of a newborn baby was found in a gunny bag near a dustbin in Kuchendar in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, bringing shame to humanity. The incident took place in Kandokata village of Kuchenda. Early in the morning, the villagers suddenly saw a sack near the trash can. The dog lingered near the sack, trying to open it by biting. The villagers became suspicious of the dog’s behavior.

When the villagers untied the bag from the dog’s hands and opened it, everyone present was stunned. In the sack lay the body of a newborn baby. The villagers immediately informed the Kuchinda police. The Kuchinda police swung into action and sent the body of the dead baby to the Kuchinda Government Hospital for autopsy.

The incident was reported to us when villagers found the body of a newborn baby in a gunny bag, said a police officer from Kuchenda police station. We rushed to the scene immediately and conducted preliminary inquiries with the people present. After the child died, his parents put him in a sack and threw him away. Everyone at the scene denied knowing anything about it. We have registered a case of unnatural death. We are interrogating Asha Didi, the hospital and the surrounding area and trying to get to the bottom of what happened.
