Metro services across the world, including in India, were once again paralyzed for several hours. Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp suddenly stopped functioning late Wednesday night. This is not the first time users have encountered such problems. Service was disrupted several times during the 2024 meta.
After Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp went down across the world, users are facing more issues accessing the apps. After the outage, a large number of users also complained on different platforms. DownDetector, a website that tracks outages on different websites, also confirmed the shutdown of Meta services.

According to DownDetector, more than 100,000 customers complained about Facebook service outages. More than 70,000 people have submitted reports about Instagram. Thousands of users have also filed complaints against WhatsApp.

The global outage for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp began around 11:30 late on Wednesday night. During this time, users experienced issues logging into the app, sending messages, and receiving messages. After the WhatsApp service was interrupted, users shared the issue on Weibo platform X. Due to the outage, WhatsApp users also faced issues in linking their app to other devices.
Meta also tweeted about the simultaneous global outage on all three platforms. “We are aware that some users are having difficulty accessing these apps due to some technical issues,” the company wrote. The company also clarified that it is working to fix the issue as soon as possible. Meta also apologized to users for the issue.
