Gujarat suffers a major blow as veteran players leave the team to join new teams

Recently, the 2025 IPL large-scale auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with players bidding heavily. After the IPL auction, the Women’s Premier League i.e. WPL 2025 will now be organized. The WPL auction will be held in Bangalore on December 15, and there is a big news before that. This news is related to Gujarat Giants. In fact, the Gujarat Giants will lose their stalwart force. The legend is none other than former India captain Mithali Raj. Mithali Raj and Gujarat Giants have decided to part ways by mutual consent ahead of the 2025 Women’s Super League.

Mithali, who has served as a mentor and advisor to the Gujarat team, recently took up a new assignment in the Andhra Cricket Association. This is why Mandana took the fateful decision to secede from Gujarat. Cricbuzz revealed this significant information in one of its reports.

Mithali will take on new role

Mithali initially signed a three-year deal, but the partnership ended after just two seasons, with the Giants finishing last. Meanwhile, Giants bowling coach Nussin Al-Hadir, who signed a two-year contract with the team, also decided not to renew his contract with the team. She currently serves as the coach of India’s under-19 women’s team. Gujarat is expected to announce Mithali Raj’s successor soon. In the meantime, however, head coach Michael Klinger and defensive coach Carl Hopkinson are expected to remain in their respective roles.

So many players will participate in the auction

It is worth noting that the player list for the WPL 2025 auction has been announced. A total of 120 players have been shortlisted for WPL 2025, including 91 Indian players and 29 foreign players. There are also 3 players from associate countries. According to the WPL 2025 auction list, 120 players will compete for 19 spots, of which 5 spots are reserved for foreign players.
