Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the government is ready to frame a law on the use of artificial intelligence if the House and society agree. What did Ashwini Vaishnav say?

In this regard, Vaishnav said that in this era of social media, societies around the world are facing challenges, and these challenges are related to fake news and fake discussions. He said there needs to be broad consensus on this (law) because the issues involve freedom of speech.

The Union Minister said there was a need to discuss the issue. If the House agrees and society broadly agrees, then we can propose a new law. We are ready for this. Vaishnav also said that the Modi government believes in democratization of technology, which did not exist during the Congress party’s rule.

The Union Minister said there are things that need to be debated. If consensus is reached, we can create new laws. The minister said the government is helping second- and third-tier cities set up artificial intelligence data labs. He also told the House that 860,000 candidates had signed up to take part in the Skills for the Future forum.
