Pakistan cricket remains in the news for some reason. The Pakistan Cricket Board continues to make headlines for hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy. At the same time, the Pakistan cricket team also showed an outstanding performance. In fact, the Pakistan cricket team is currently touring Zimbabwe and is busy participating in the T20I series after winning the ODI series. After winning the first T20I by 57 runs, Pakistan smashed Zimbabwe’s batting advantage in the second match. Zimbabwe were forced to surrender in front of Pakistan bowlers.
Zimbabwe’s batting was poor and they could not even complete 20 overs, scoring just 57 runs in 12.4 overs. This is Zimbabwe’s lowest score in T20Is. Zimbabwe scored 82 points against Sri Lanka at the beginning of the year, but this humiliating record was also broken by the end of the year.
25-year-old bowler makes history
Fast bowler Sufiyan Mukeem played a big role in limiting the entire Zimbabwe team to such a low score. Sufiyan, 25, led half the team to the pavilion alone. Interestingly, the bowler fell victim to 5 batsmen in just 3 runs in 2.4 overs. In this way, the biggest record in Pakistan’s T20I history was broken.
15 years of records destroyed
This performance by Sufiyan Muqeem has now become Pakistan’s best bowling performance in T20I cricket. Previously, the best bowling record was held by Umar Gul. Gul achieved the great feat of taking 5 wickets in 2009 and 2013. During this period, Gurr only managed 6-6 runs. Now, in his seventh match, Sufyan surpassed both Umar Gul’s records in one fell swoop.
Before this match, Sufiyan had taken 9 wickets in 6 T20I matches. Now, after taking a wicket in the 7th match, his wicket count has increased to 14. He also took three wickets in the first match of the T20I series against Zimbabwe. It will be interesting to see his bowling now in the third game.
