Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha sacked two government employees for having links with terrorists. According to sources, Manoj Sinha sacked Rehman Naika and Zaheer Abbas following an investigation by intelligence agencies over their links with terrorists. According to reports, one of the fired employees was a teacher and the other was a pharmacist. Investigations by intelligence agencies revealed that the two men were suspected of having links to the terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen.

Abdul Rahman, a resident of Kulgam in Devsar, was working as a medical assistant at Naika in 1992. Investigations by intelligence agencies revealed that he had links to the Islamic Mujahideen. This was revealed in 2021 during the investigation into the murder of nationalist leader Ghulam Hasan Lone. Investigation into the case revealed that Naika played a major role in planning the murder.

Thereafter, he also played an active role in promoting terrorism and separatism in Kulgam and surrounding areas. Naika and her accomplices were arrested by police armed with grenades and AK-47 ammunition. During interrogation, Naika admitted that she was instructed by some fixers in Pakistan to attack security forces and politicians in Kulgam. During this period, he also admitted that as a ground staff, he helped detect targets and helped terrorists escape safely.

Abbas is lodged in Jammu’s Barwar Jail.

Zahir Abbas, a resident of Badhat Saroor in Kishtwar, was appointed as a teacher in 2012. He was arrested in September 2020 on charges of harboring three active Hezbollah terrorists. He is currently lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. Investigations into the case revealed that Zaheer Abbas was a committed underground worker who had supplied weapons and ammunition to the Islamic Mujahideen.

What did the lieutenant governor say after the action?

After terminating the services of the two employees, LG Manoj Sinha said the move exposed the deep network of Pakistan and Pakistan-based terror groups in India. At the same time, LG said the cases of these employees endangering national security and investing Indian taxpayers’ money in terrorist activities demonstrate how terrorist groups can infiltrate Indian government systems.
