The Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Alphabet, Microsoft, YouTube, Adobe and IBM are among the 20 prominent corporate leaders of Indian origin. Each of these CEOs has ties to India through their heritage or family ties.

Here are the companies, their leaders and their connections to India.

List of Indian CEOs:

1. Alphabet: Alphabet Inc., the parent company of search engine giant Google and one of the world’s largest companies, has Indian CEO Sundar Pichai, who became CEO in 2015 and remains Lead this technology company. Pichai was born in India but now lives in the United States.

2. Microsoft: Microsoft is a multinational company similar to Google, and its CEO Satya Nadella was also born in India. He became the company’s CEO in 2014 and still leads the tech giant. Nadella was born in India but now lives in the United States.

3.YouTube: YouTube is an entertainment platform owned by Google’s parent company, and its CEO Neil Mohan is an Indian-American. He became YouTube CEO in February 2023 and still leads the entertainment platform. Mohan served as the company’s chief product officer before becoming CEO.

4. Adobe: Adobe Inc. is a multinational software company whose CEO Shantanu Narayen is Indian. Narayen became CEO in December 2007 and remains at the helm of the company. Prior to becoming CEO, Narayen served as the company’s chief operating officer (COO).

5. World Bank Group: Ajay Banga has served as Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank Group since June 2023. Born in Pune, Banga is also one of the largest companies in the world. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, he served as CEO and later executive chairman of Mastercard.

6. IBM: IBM appointed Arvind Krishna, who was born in Andhra Pradesh but is now a citizen of the United States of America, as CEO. Krishna became IBM CEO in April 2020 and was subsequently awarded the title of group chairman in 2021.

7.Albertson: Vivek Sankaran, CEO of Albertsons, one of the largest food and drug retail chains in the United States, is also an Indian-American. He became CEO in April 2019 and remains in the position today. Prior to joining Albertsons, Sankaran served as CEO of PepsiCo’s Frito Lays NA.

8. Infosys: Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys Ltd., one of the world’s largest IT companies, is Indian. He became the CEO of the IT company in January 2018.

9. NetApp: NetApp is an American data infrastructure company whose CEO is Indian-American George Kurian. He was born in Kerala but is now an American citizen. Prior to being named CEO, he served as NetApp’s executive vice president of product operations.

10. Palo Alto Networks: Palo Alto Networks is a leading cybersecurity company run by Nikesh Arora, who has served as CEO since 2018. Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks, Arora served as a senior executive at Google and as President of SoftBank Group.

11. Arista Network: Jayshree V. Ullal is the CEO of Arista Networks, an American computer networking company. Ural is an Indian-British billionaire who became CEO in October 2008.

12. Novartis: Novartis is a pharmaceutical company whose CEO Vasant Narasimhan is of Indian origin. He is an American doctor born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He became the CEO of Novartis in September 2017.

13. Micron Technology: Micron Technology is a memory and storytelling technology company led by Sanjay Mehrotra. Mehrotra, who was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has served as CEO since May 2017.

14. Honeywell: Honeywell International is a Fortune 500 company that manufactures advanced technology products. Indian-American Vimal Kapur has served as the company’s CEO since June 2023 and as the group’s chairman since June 2024.

15. Flexibility: Flex (formerly Flextronics) is an electronic manufacturing services (EMS) provider headed by Revathi Advaithi as CEO. Born in India, she has served as the company’s CEO since February 2019.

16. Market: Wayfair is an American e-commerce company run by Niraj Shah. Shah, an Indian-American, co-founded the company in 2002 and has served as CEO since then. The company sells furniture and home furnishings online.

17. Chanel: Chanel is a luxury brand focusing on women’s ready-to-wear, luxury goods and accessories. Leena Nair has served as CEO of the luxury brand since January 2022.

18. Only fans: OnlyFans is a British subscription video-on-demand service and social media network headed by Indian-American CEO Amrapali Gan. Gan was appointed CEO of the platform in December 2021. Prior to her appointment, she served as the company’s chief marketing and communications officer.

19. Recognize: Cognizant is an American IT services company whose CEO is Ravi Kumar S. He is an Indian-American who joined as CEO in January 2023. In addition to serving as CEO of Cognizant, he serves as an independent director on TransUnion and other companies.

20. Vertex Pharmaceuticals: Vertex Pharmaceuticals is a biotechnology company led by Indian-born Reshma Kewalramani. She became CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals in April 2020. Prior to joining Vertex, she served as vice president at Amgen in 2014.
