November 28, 2024: Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request for $50 million bail is denied by District Judge Arun Subramanian. He will remain in federal custody pending trial. The ruling followed a series of denials by two other judges, who expressed concerns about Coombs’ potential witness tampering and his alleged history of violence, including incidents involving guns, kidnappings and arson. The ruling highlighted evidence that Coombs may have attempted to obstruct justice by concealing communications with people he was prohibited from contacting.

The court specifically highlighted serious concerns about witness tampering, noting that Combs had previously attempted to delete or cover up messages with his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who was subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury. Additionally, the court cited a 2016 video that allegedly shows Combs assaulting Ventura at a hotel and describing in text messages injuries caused by the attack, such as dark circles under his eyes and fat lips.

The decision also cited Combs’ alleged attempts to circumvent prison communications surveillance. He allegedly paid prisoners to use access codes for their phones, and his legal team and family are accused of using three calls to evade surveillance. Prosecutors also argued that Combs used an unauthorized messaging app to communicate with witnesses and pressure his family members to send public information aimed at swaying potential jurors.

Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, led a legal team that disputed the charges, particularly those related to sex trafficking. They argued the charges were based on a toxic and sometimes violent personal relationship with Ventura and accused prosecutors of improperly withholding privileged material from Combs’ cell. However, the court ordered that certain images taken from his notes be deleted.

Federal authorities accuse Coombs of leading a criminal operation involving the trafficking and assault of women through his businesses since 2008, including the infamous “Freak Offs” in which women were allegedly forced to engage in prolonged sex acts. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges and a trial is scheduled for May 2025.

The ongoing legal battle has attracted widespread attention because it involves serious allegations of abuse, witness tampering and organized crime.
