CBI interrogates Gaurav Mehta in connection with Bitcoin case in Maharashtra electoral state. The CBI interrogated Gaurav Mehta for several hours today in Raipur. Yesterday, the CBI conducted a raid in the case and summoned Gaurav Mehta for questioning. According to sources, Gaurav Mehta will also be interrogated on Friday. Following the Supreme Court order, all cases related to Bitcoin fraud across the country will be investigated by the CBI.
Let us tell you that while probing the Rs 6,600-crore scam, the ED team raided Gaurav Mehta’s bungalow in Raipur on Wednesday. The raid was in connection with a major cryptocurrency scam in which Gaurav was accused of defrauding people worth crores of rupees.
A case has been registered against the two hostesses
In this case, the CBI has also registered a case against two suspects, Ajay Bhardwaj and Amit Bhardwaj. Amit died of heart disease in 2022. Ajay is absconding and is being searched by multiple investigative agencies.
What is Bitcoin manipulation?
In fact, the mastermind of this scam was a man named Amit Bhardwaj, who carried out the scam in the name of investing in Bitcoin. Hundreds of investors were defrauded. Investing in Bitcoin promises a 10% monthly return. After the scam, Amit Bhardwaj fled to Dubai but was deported back to India. He died of heart disease in 2022. In this scam, Amit Bhardwaj provided 285 Bitcoins to Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra in the name of opening a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine. The value of these Bitcoins at the time was approximately Rs 150 crore.
In this case, around 40 FIRs were registered in Maharashtra and Punjab. Former IPS and network expert Ravindra Nath has also been included in the investigation team to investigate the case. The then Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta and IPS Bhagyashree allegedly took over these Bitcoin wallets and in return were kept without money.
