Russia-Ukraine War: The war between Russia and Ukraine is taking a dangerous turn. Following US weapons, Ukraine is now attacking Russia with British Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Meanwhile, Russia said it had destroyed two British-made Storm Shadow missiles.
What does the Russian Defense Ministry say?
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that its air defense systems destroyed two British-made Storm Shadow missiles, six HIMARS rockets and 67 drones. The news was announced during the ministry’s daily briefing on “special military operations” in Ukraine. It did not specify when or where the incident occurred or who the missile was fired at.
Russia has destroyed missiles before
This is not the first time Moscow has publicly announced the downing of a British-made Storm Shadow missile. Russia had also earlier talked about destroying some of these missiles in the Crimean peninsula it occupies.
Russia attacks with intercontinental ballistic missile
Meanwhile, Ukraine said Russia last night targeted the Ukrainian city of Dnipro with an intercontinental missile (ICBM) for the first time in the war. The Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement on Telegram on Thursday that the plane was launched from Russia’s Astrakhan region. The war has become more international as North Korean troops arrive on the battlefield to aid Russia.
